Maia Morales-Flynn

Supper Meals Chef

Maia Morales, born and raised in the Philippines, moved with her mom and sisters to New York City in 2011. At 18, she attended the Institute of Culinary Education, where she met her husband. With humble beginnings, she honed her skills at The Queens Kickshaw, a vegetarian gastropub in the heart of Astoria. After becoming hooked on his famous pork buns, she set out to work for the Michelin-starred Chef David Chang. She spent three years working at his Momofuku restaurants, Ma Peche and Nishi, while also trailing at some of New York’s top restaurants perfecting her craft.  In October of 2016, Maia and her husband moved to Raleigh to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, in hopes of one day opening a place of their own. In her free time, she works on recipes at home and keeps updated on the newest cooking techniques and trends. She has come to love local southern produce and frequents the State Farmer’s Market and can also be found at Asian markets, Patel Brothers, and the Butchers Market. Her favorite movie is Chef and in her words “nothing beats working in a happy kitchen”
