Green Initiative
In the Fall of 2011, Catering Works revitalizes the Green Initiative by focusing on our SEASONAL MENU. The Seasonal Menu selections will allow us to share the latest and greatest recipes and utilize the freshest and most locally available seasonal products, such as Farmer's Market produce and other locally sourced ingredients. Buying locally means supporting the local economy and minimizing transportation costs, fuel costs and overall environmental costs. Feel Good - Eat Local - Order from the Seasonal Menu.
We are joining the "Meatless Monday" campaign, and offering a section on our Seasonal Menu devoted entirely to healthy, delicious and filling Vegetarian meals. Feel free to order from the Meatless Mondays section any day of the week, the idea is to eliminate at least one day eating meat, it doesn't have to be Monday. Eating a little less meat not only aids in weightloss and better health, but relieves some of the burden on our environment. For more information click Meatless Mondays
Catering Works is committed to making eco-friendly choices and being good stewards of the environment. In keeping with this committment, we are always looking to adopt the latest and greatest strategies that execute this philosophy. Here are some ways we are staying green:

Catering Works is committed to making eco-friendly choices and being good stewards of the environment. In keeping with this committment, we are always looking to adopt the latest and greatest strategies that execute this philosophy. Here are some ways we are staying green:
- On Earth Day, April 22, 2008, Catering Works replaced our existing disposable plastics line with eco-friendly substitutes.
- Bagasse (bə-gās') plates are made from sugar cane and are 100% compostable
- Dispozo-enviroware™ utensils are 100% biodegradable plastic. This cutlery does not contain dyes or pigments, or rely on hydrocarbons in their manufacturing.
- PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) Polymer cups are made from corn. PLA is the first of these types of polymers that has significantly reduced greenhouse gases.
- We recognize that our industry produces a lot of waste, and have adopted a comprehensive recycling program and food reutilization program. Leftovers from Catering Works are routed to Interfaith Food Shuttle.
- A consolidated delivery schedule allows us to maximize the number of deliveries taken by each vehicle, and plots the most direct route to cut down on gasoline consumption. Catering Works maintains a fleet with several diesel vehicles.
- Join the clean plate club! (clean your own plates to be more precise). If you elect to use your own dishes for a lunch delivery, you can save an additional $1 per person on your order. If you are interested in purchasing Melamine products, to make them a part of your company's inventory, we offer luncheon plate, dessert plate and coffee mugs for $1.50 per set. These are long lasting, break resistant and dishwasher safe.
- We have nearly eliminated our bottle water inventory. Our signature "Spa Water", a water display infused with fresh fruits and berries, offers a flavorful and colorful alternative to the traditional and wasteful plastic bottled water. Water is dispensed, on demand, and can be replenished throughout the day for your training meetings and other functions of this nature.
- There are many ways to "green up" other special events. Having a wedding ceremony and reception in the same location will reduce transportation costs and many other expenses, along with reducing the carbon footprint for the event.
- Green favors such as saplings or seeds, or consumable goods wrapped in eco friendly containers are more practical and enjoyable than many of the traditional style keepsakes.
